Outdoor writer Roger S. Harbster is a member of Florida Outdoor Writers Association, Outdoor Writers of America Association and Southern Outdoor Press Association.

Roger has been writing Know How Ideas, Books, Magazines and is still publishing several Outdoor Magazines. Roger has been doing this for the past 40 years.

Roger is an Expert Hunter and an Avid Fisherman. Roger has fished and hunted in many states, Canada, and Germany. Roger has lived in Florida for the past 44 years and fished all round Florida Offshore on both coasts, Freshwater and Saltwater.

He started making Fishing Maps in 1994 and has sold thousands of copies, 8 1/2 x 14 printed both sides and Laminated. He has 20 books to his credit ... 12 Fishing and Fishing Map Books. Also 8 Hunting Books.

Roger Harbster grew up in up-state New York. His father William Stanton Harbster wrote for 3 Newspapers at the same time, nickname Scoope. Roger, his brother Bruce and their dad Stanton Harbster started the first shopper in their area of up-state New York in the early fifty's.

Roger started his background in meat cutting and butchering in his early teens. By 21 he was a full experienced meat man from the kill, cleaning to quartering and cutting all meat market animals. His brother Bruce was killed in an auto accident at age 20. Roger still thinks of his brother most every day while fishing and hunting.

He moved to Florida in 1957 with his wife Dorothy, took a job in the meat industry as market manager and supervisor, till he started R.S. HARBSTER PUBLICATIONS 39 years ago.

His mom Amerlia Harbster owned a restaurant and lounge in good hunting and fishing country in up-state New York and taught Roger how to cook all that good homemade food. Recipes  that Roger has in his Fish & Game Recipe Books.

Roger was guiding hunters and fishermen from age 16 to the time he came to Florida. Of course he was in the army, a member of the Atregent Generals Corp. he served in the states and Europe for two years.

So his background was good to write Know How Books, and Excellent Outdoor Cook, Guide Experience and his background in the Meat Industry and his father being a writer. It was only natural to write books and be an outdoor writer.

Dorothy and Roger learned how to Fish and Hunt in Florida! It was a lot different than up-state New York. Swamps, Snakes and Gators instead of mountains, snow and ice. But fell in love with Florida and have done real well through the years.

Their daughter Desiree was started with a fish pole and BB gun at 2 years old and is an avid hunter and fisherperson. Also with her mom Dorothy have bagged many big fish and game.

We all work R.S. Harbster Publications as a family and Desiree has her own Tournament Trail, Offshore, Inshore and Freshwater Tournaments.

Dorothy is the President of R.S. Harbster Publication and a sponsor of Florida Outdoor Writers Association.
